A humble start
Set up back in the eighties, Mortgage Brain began as a small system developed for the wife of the founder, who was a mortgage adviser, and the first sourcing system for advisers in the UK mortgage market was born.
A business odyssey
As Mortgage Brain grew, a consortium of lenders recognised the potential of the rising technology business and decided to acquire it. At the time, the lenders accounted for over 65% of mortgages sold in the UK.
An electronic breakthrough
Mark Lofthouse, then CEO, championed the first-ever system that enables mortgage applications to be completed, submitted, tracked, and processed electronically. MTE (Mortgage Trading Exchange) became the largest single delivery method for placing mortgages in the industry.
Since its launch, over 2 million transactions have been processed via the platform.
A key year
The Key (a back-office system) was acquired by Mortgage Brain, which became the most widely used Client Relationship Management (CRM) system for advisers.
B2C comes to be
The business launched a website creation and optimisation service alongside providing the first APIs for mortgage sourcing to the industry, enabling customers to represent themselves online and present mortgage products directly to their customers.
Apps for the future
The industry's first mortgage sourcing app, UKMortgages was born. This app enables consumers to find their local mortgage adviser as well as search for mortgages that may be available to them.
A Source of interest
Another industry first! iSourceMortgages, an iPad-based mortgage sourcing system for advisers is brought to the market.
Demonstrating flexibility
Sourcing Brain (formerly MortgageBrain Anywhere), an online and multi-device friendly mortgage sourcing system, is developed - a solution to meet the growing demand from advisers, for greater flexibility and use of various devices.

Mortgage Brain ventured into conveyancing sourcing with the launch of case tracking portal, Conveyancing Brain.
Leading the charge
A second charge sourcing website called LoansBrain, which is freely available to all, was launched.
Another first
Second charge products are integrated into sourcing systems, Sourcing Brain (formerly MortgageBrain Anywhere) and MortgageBrain Classic.
A smart device
The industry's first Mortgage Skill on Amazon Echo devices. Users can ask Alexa to find them a local adviser, a mortgage, or both. A free listing is available and sourcing adviser customers gain a free listing and subsequent leads.
Criteria sourcing
The acquisition of Criteria Brain (formerly Criteria Hub) enabled advisers to match the criteria of UK lenders to the needs of their clients quickly and easily. It also offers lenders the ability to gain an insight into the criteria that are being searched for.
Affordability sourcing
Affordability Brain (formerly Affordability Hub) launched, facilitating advisers to submit client information into a single form to gain results from numerous lenders' affordability calculators in less than a minute.
